Recording Words — Word Challenge
Structure of Words to Record
In the MOTS tab, each word card contains 6 positions. Each position is an independent recording.
| Position | Content | Example (Pular) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | First word | Baaba (Father) |
| 2 | Second word | Yaaya (Mother) |
| 3 | Third word | Biraado (Child) |
| 4 | Fourth word | Gorko (Man) |
| 5 | Fifth word | Debbo (Woman) |
| 6 | Sixth word | Esraajo (Brother) |
You can record the 6 positions in any order, but recording a complete card in one go is recommended for sonic consistency.

Practical Tips for Words
- Read the word before recording: do not discover the word live — this avoids hesitations
- One breath, then the word: do not start immediately after clicking "Start"
- Not too short, not too long: ideal duration is 1–3 seconds for a word, 2–5 seconds for a short phrase
- Articulate each syllable: especially for tones (tonal languages such as Pular)
- Consistent intensity for the whole card: record all 6 words of a card in succession for sonic consistency
