DÉFI PHRASE — Conversation Cards

Version française
Back to index

What is DÉFI PHRASE?

DÉFI PHRASE gives you access to the conversation cards for a language. Unlike word cards which contain isolated vocabulary, phrase cards present complete exchanges in context.

Each phrase card is bidirectional: it lets you learn to understand the African language (Lot 1) AND to respond to a question in French (Lot 2).

Accessing DÉFI PHRASE

  1. From the home page, click on the unlocked language
  2. On the language page, select "DÉFI PHRASE"
  3. The list of all phrase cards appears

The phrase card list (/[language]/phrases)

Identical to the word card list, but for phrases. Each entry shows: - The card number - The theme or context of the conversation - The number of available phrases

A search bar lets you filter by number or theme.

Lot 2 — Speaking (French → African language)

Edge cases and expected behaviour

Learning tips

  1. Lot 1 first: master understanding before moving on to speaking
  2. Imitate the intonation: listen carefully to the rises and falls in the voice
  3. Practise in context: imagine the real-life conversation situation
  4. Repeat multiple times: one phrase memorised is worth more than ten cards browsed
  5. Combine with the board game: phrase cards correspond to the communication challenges in the physical game
  6. Alternate: do Lot 1 one day and Lot 2 the next for varied practice
